We are accepting full length manuscripts and chapbooks for 2027.
Gnashing Teeth Publishing is accepting submissions of full-length and chapbook manuscripts. We will be accepting at least two (2) full-length manuscripts and two (2) chapbooks. We are looking for poetry, short fiction collections, or “something interesting”. Look through our previous releases to get a feel for what we like. Please read the guidelines before submitting. Use the Submission Form below. Submissions sent to our email will be deleted without comment. Please note, we are reading for our 2028 calendar.
Open to U.S. residents (legal status does not matter) only.
Poetry can be any subject, any form. Full manuscripts have no page limit. Chapbooks should be more than 30 but no more than 80 pages long, regardless of number of poems.
Use 12-point font in Times New Roman or Arial. Do not include any identifying information on the manuscript.
We prefer .doc or .docx format. If you submit in PDF, you will be asked to resubmit as .doc or .docx if selected.
Individual short fiction pieces should be no longer than 5000 words. Full manuscripts have no page limit but anything over 150 is a a harder approval. Chapbooks should be more than 30 but no more than 80 pages long, regardless of number of works.
Use 12-point font in Times New Roman or Arial. Do NOT double space. Do not include any identifying information on the manuscript.
We prefer .doc or .docx format. If you submit in PDF, you will be asked to resubmit as .doc or .docx if selected.
Show us what you’ve got. We aren’t looking for novels or short stories with experimental themes. We are looking for the unique, something that grabs us.

Include your name, address, email address, type of submission and title of submission. Include a short bio, up to 100 words. Please discuss the impetus for the work in at least one full paragraph. We want to connect with your “why” for the work. Let us know of any unique formatting requirements.
Submissions are open September 1, 2026 – December 31, 2026. Notifications will be sent out before Jan 31, 2026.

Chapbooks have a $18 reading fee. Manuscripts have a $23 reading fee. Expeimental works fall under the Manuscript category.
If you choose to submit to more than one category, full reading fee still applies.
If the submission fee places an undue financial burden on you, please feel free to reach out to us through our Contact Us form. Requests are granted at our discretion.
Selected submissions will be offered a contract to publish. This will outline specific terms.
