James Cole’s The Somatoliths is a collection born from small observations about big ideas, momentary reflections on lifetime-spanning effects. Born from a childhood obsession with a singular fossil, The Somatoliths is the culmination of Cole’s lifelong curation of stony themes. Compelled by the image of a rocks in bodies, bodies in rocks, The Somatoliths attempts to unify medieval cosmogeny, contemporary science, and the salience of personal humor in an otherwise humorless world.
