While you eat breakfast,
I think about killing myself.
We walk until my legs give
out, but still I find no peace.
You say, “I didn’t know if
you wanted space,” but
that’s all we have anymore.
You accidentally touch me
and cringe as if burned. I
wonder if you even know
what that does to me, if
you even realize how alone
I feel even when you’re
in the same room as me.
I used to think I knew
what you were thinking,
used to be able to guess
the next words coming out
of your mouth before you
said them. Now I wonder
if I even know you at all.
