Tiny Altars: Poems on Grieving and Beholding

Tiny Altars: Poems on Grieving and Beholding is centered around experiences of grief and loss– in both pandemic spaces, and beyond. The poems herein are deeply interested in the grief experience, the way in which it asks to be witnessed and beheld, and the internal conflicts that are presented when we have no witnesses for our grief. Here, words act as witnesses, and they also find the other witnesses in our lives that can emerge when least expected.

These poems are presented in a small hardback edition with tiny sketches throughout. Perfect for gifting to someone who needs upheld.

Layered over the loss and the grief- and a deep understanding of the difficulties of this world —is an incandescence, a stunning wisdom and holiness. Ana Marie Boyd is a powerful voice with a clear view of truth and beauty. The shorter poems in Tiny Altars are reminiscent of the work of Kay Ryan, pithy, brief, forceful and full of meaning. There's also a little of Lucia Perillo in these pages, gorgeous poems of honesty and wonder. A luminous examination of grief and grace…Echoes of Kay Ryan and her brief force, with the honesty and resplendent nature of Lucia Perillo. This collection is dazzling.
