not a book, but a poem. the incredible Lynn Emmanuel first had this poem appear in Poetry magazine in May 1983. it is still as heartbreaking and painful and beautiful today as it was those many years ago.

Frying Trout While Drunk” is not just about the trout her mother, and now the poet, prepares. it touches on ways we abuse ourselves. it uses internal rhymes and alliteration to draw the reader in. there is a fluidity between past and present.
