Everlasting Life by Jacob R. Moses

I wish not for the immortal
Sentence of staying upon
Sand riddled by syringes

Whether a beach is a rock
Laced with heroin remains
To be seen and I remain
Senseless in my avoidance

As I quantum leap through
Gratuitous adversity, I am
Inhabiting private oceans
Marked with the bullseye
Of an oil slick among
Tidal waves and trenches

I vent myself with fans
The type moving air and
Those who move me
Like bullet trains

Far from ashamed I remain
With disdain behind my brain

Immortality is a life sentence
Influx of indignant and inglorious
Bastardization of breathing

Never was my style to will
My livelihood to one set of
Geographic coordinates

Such is the case with John 3:16
For the Son is eclipsed by debris
